Negotiations
Background
The purpose of a Schedule is to provide agencies (government-wide) an easy contract
vehicle for ordering commercial products and services. There are approximately 125 Schedules
with over 8,000 vendors, with almost 4,000 on the IT schedule alone. These ordering tools
cover the gamut from tools, office furniture and supplies, copiers, IT equipment and services
to motor vehicles, medical equipment, hospital supplies and pharmaceutical drugs.
GSA's Responsibility
To negotiate for the government the best possible prices and terms for your
commercial products and services by comparing the prices or discounts that your
company offers the government with the prices or discounts that you offer to your
own commercial customers. This negotiation objective is commonly known as
"most favored customer" pricing. The pursuit of "best customer pricing" as a
goal is consistent with commercial practice and totally consistent with the
objective of negotiating a fair and reasonable price.
During the negotiation phase of acceptable offers, GSA has the right to question
or request justification for proposed contract terms or ask the contractor to amend
its offer to include more favorable terms.
Government Contract Solutions' Responsiblity
To negotiate the best possible prices and terms for you, our client. Your designated
GCS negotiator (either staff or consultant) will represent you to the GSA either in
person, telephone or in writing or all three. This phase can be lengthy and arduous,
but we never give up, nor do we forget your interests.
